There is no lack of a newscast, newspaper or digital newspaper that does not include the matter in its headlines. This constant bombardment of information, apocalyptic at times, spreads feelings of fear and anxiety over people.
The issue of the crisis does not come to us because of the sadness reflected in the face of the husband, father or brother, but rather represents the need to request new credits, to extend the term in which to pay the mortgage loan, lack of liquidity to assume the daily expenses of education, health and food of the children, of losses in the company, of accounts in red numbers… of unemployment and even eviction.
That is precisely what happens to the protagonists, a fun play that injects a dose of illusion and positivism for this Christmas. No matter how much the whole world complains and rants. Laura is not willing to let a ‘simple’ crisis destroy her life. As? With creativity, illusion, humor and positivism.
Positive attitudes to face the crisis
– Be realistic and optimistic about the future. It is not about building castles in the air, but about developing a capacity for analysis of the environment based on positive realism without falling into drama.
– Do not self-flagellate, regret or look guilty. These thoughts only deepen the discomfort, mistrust, and worry. Something different will happen if you achieve a climate of control over the situation —important in a changing economic context such as the one that surrounds a crisis— devising a prevention plan, if you are on time, or responses that give you self-confidence, help control fear and contain the negative psychological impact.
– Define your priorities personal and family, focus on them. Outline a survival plan in which you keep only the essentials.
– Outline short-term goals to get ahead and be able to act quickly, this increases your personal satisfaction and will help you design alternative approaches to overcome the crisis since you will not be able to avoid it.
– Take some time to assimilate the situation and do not make drastic or hasty decisions. In these cases, anger and sadness can lead you to erroneous solutions that you will later regret and with this you will prolong the time of negative emotions.
– Assume that during this stage it will be normal to suffer some symptoms related to anxiety and stress, but if these translate into insomnia, panic attacks, significant weight loss, feelings of despair, sadness, anger and hostility towards others, seek professional help before reaching a depressive or anxiety disorder.
– Focus your mind on the possible alternatives and not on the lost. Thinking and acting productively are effective antidepressants and anxiolytics, more so than the best pill. This attitude also works as a spyglass allowing you to look beyond the current problem.
-At times like these, it is essential not to lose perspective that economic crises are to the system like flu to children, none has been perpetual and they serve to strengthen us and immunize us for the future.
– If you are unemployed, or in some other extreme situation, maintain a practical and active attitude, relying on the people closest to you or on your own personal resources. Develop daily activities in the form of obligations that replace a working day, this will help you prevent inactivity and isolation from worsening your mood. One option is to dedicate more time to children and family in general, as well as to friends or to pleasant tasks that were previously left out of the daily routine due to lack of time, such as sports or reading.
– In times of crisis, pure spirituality, advised an old university professor, and he was right. Take advantage of the time and prepare for the future by studying, learning new trades or incorporating skills that will be of use to you when the time comes.
